What we do

Loud and Clear

Loud and Clear is the name that we give to the support work we do with a variety of different projects. Many of these projects deal with non-disability related issues but give a voice to groups or communities that might otherwise be ignored.

Highlights of this work include three national tours of Change of Mind, Peter Spafford’s play about Alzheimer’s, the production of a video training pack; and the Incluedo audience research development programme.

Incluedo
Incluedo is an audience development research programme that we devised along with the Acting Company and ADA inc. It aims to bridge the gap between audiences, performance, companies and venues.

Never again

The programme highlights the barriers that prevent people with a learning disability from accessing the arts.

Incluedo consisted of the following key stages:

We held initial research workshops with both learning-disabled people involved in the company’s training programmes, and non-disabled young people from the Bradford area. We found out their attitudes to the arts and theatre going, and what the terms ‘access’ and ‘inclusion’ meant to them.

These finding became Never Again, an interactive forum theatre production performed in education settings in the region.

Along with ADA inc and members of the Acting Company, we then led a regional seminar on good practice and invited programming, marketing and front of house staff from venues in the region.

A team of learning disabled, and non-disabled people visited a number of venues in the region and recorded their experiences. Following return visits, four of the venues received in depth auditing and training on access and inclusion from ADA inc.

Never Again… is available to buy, either as a performance and workshop package or as an interactive CD Rom training package.

It is aimed at venue staff, particularly box office, front of house and marketing personnel was produced. The training covers the evidence, findings and solutions of our research.
