Summer Activities 2018

Mind the Gap is running a range of exciting summer activities for young people with learning disabilities, aged 11 to 25 across West Yorkshire.

Mind the Gap Summer School (Bradford)
Dates: Monday 20 – Thursday 23 August
Times: 10am – 3pm
Venue: MTG Studios
Cost: Free
Age: 11-25

Mind the Gap will be holding an exciting free one week summer school for young people with learning disabilities aged 11 to 25. You can expect the usual Youth Academy fun – exciting music workshops with singing and instruments, expressing yourself, speaking up in drama and developing your dance abilities to awesome summer tunes.

Imagineer and Mind the Gap get the Band Together (Halifax)
Dates: Tuesday 14 – Thursday 16 August
Times: 10am – 3pm
Venue: Orange Box
Cost: Free
Age: 14-25

This summer, Mind the Gap and Imagineer are getting the band together! Join us for three days of music making, whether you’re a guitarist, drummer, bass player or lead singer in the making. Write and play your own music, and perform in a live gig at Beat It Nightclub on Thursday 16 August!

People Matters Summer Sessions (Leeds)
Dates: Every Wednesday and Thursday from 25 July – 30 July
Times: 10:30am – 3:30pm
Venue: People Matters Leeds
Cost: £1 per session
Age: 14-25

Led by People Matters in collaboration with Mind the Gap, learn the skills you need to perform devised dance pieces, write and sing music and act on the stage. Create a new piece of musical theatre based on your interests and passions, and perform your original show on Thursday 30 August at Slung Low’s The HUB in Leeds.

Buzz Fun Fridays (Leeds)

Every Friday from 3 – 24 August
Times: 11am – 3pm
Venue: First Floor, Leeds Playhouse
Cost: £3 per session
Age: 14-25

Join us to make some noise this summer, at our four music sessions at the brilliant Leeds Playhouse, alongside England’s largest learning-disabled theatre company.

Together we will explore different elements of making music, and share it with our friends and families on the final Friday.

Everyone who attends one of the summer activities will work towards an Arts Award, meaning that you will finish with a qualification.
