Hi, its Rio here- your Assistant Theatre Director at Mind the Gap...

I'm really pleased to tell you I have been selected as one of the Yorkshire Delegates to attend the Ars Electronica festival in Austria this weekend... but I don't know what to pack!

The Ars Electronica Festival is one of the top media arts festival in the world- its  gonna be held around the city of Linz but this year it's gonna be  at this massive new center which looks like something out of Star Trek!

I'm hoping the Ars Electronica Festival will give me the opportunity to see how cutting-edge technology is being used in different arts practice globally and have chats with other artists from yorkshire to find out about they work and hopefully afterwards they can come and play with the technology at Mind the Gap Studios! Dave (Searle) our Technical Facilitator is gonna join us for this bit!

I love using new technologies in work I'm directing... Recently we used exciting technology in ‘I’m with Stupid’, ‘Boo’, ‘Tech: Know How’ and  ‘Four Seasons’ projects and hopefully we'll be doing more of this in the future and this trip will inspire me to use it in new and exciting ways...

The title of this years Festival is Human Nature and the programme looks awesome- I'm looking forward to seeing the Facade Festival- where the building is a blank canvas for 24hr projections that the public can make themselves!
