Boo rehearsal blog - week 2

Hello, Ed again. This week I have been talking to the actors about their characters. I haven't spoken to Alan yet but... watch this blog.

I spoke to Jonny first and he thinks he is getting to know Boo. He said that Boo does a lot of things well and is good at being orgainsed, he likes washing up but doesn't like cooking. Boo likes people but he doesn't have lots of friends, he was once out and some people pinched his bag and pissed in it. Jonny said, he is quite quirky, he really likes beans and is always going on about them.

Rob thinks that his character is a bit selfish and looks after number one, he is not worried about his sisters safety, he is more worried that if something happens he will get into trouble.

Rob is having fun playing with Boy's mean side but says its a bit weird as he isn't that mean in real life. I asked him if there were similarities between him and his character and he said, 'He looks like me!' Typical Rob, always the joker.

JoAnne says her character is even more hyper than her - which is difficult to believe. She's more daring than JoAnne and does things she isn't supposed to like taking sweets from strangers. Girl does copy her brother, sometimes to wind him up and sometimes to be as cool as him and his older mates.

JoAnne and Rob are working on their brother and sister relationship which seems to be spilling over into break and lunchtimes, you can't talk to one of them without the other one being there or the two of them play fighting.

I decided to set them a task this week to think about what their characters have done before the opening scene as when I am creating a character it always helps me to have a back story. So watch out next week for: I know what Boo did last summer!
