Boo rehearsal blog - week 3 or I Know What Boo Did Last Summer...

Well, it is week 3 of rehearsals which means we are nearly half way through and noone has thrown in the towel yet.

Last week I set all the cast a challenge to think about their characters backstory, a sort of 'I know what Boo did last summer'. JoAnne said that her character used to go out without her brother and liked playing by herself and spying on people but now Boy is always there spoiling her fun. She isn't allowed to play by herself anymore because Kelly Spanner went missing.

Rob said that Boy had a horrible time last summer, he got kicked out of his football team for tackling too much and causing injuries. He was grounded for running up a massive phone bill, had to get a job at Pizza Hut but then was fired for being rude to a customer. He also sneaked in to see Friday 13th which is an 18 film, but he said he looks 18 anyway.

Alan told me about his character Benny's summer, he took Boo to Bridlington last year him and Boo went on the ghost-train but Boo didn't like it. Then Boo ate too much candy floss and was sick on the bumper cars, Boo also told Benny he preferred Amsterdam.

Jonny is playing Boo and said that last summer Boo also was taken to Amsterdam by Benny and they visited a church with a big crematorium. They went for about a week and got a ferry from Newcastle avoiding right turns as Boo only likes turning left.

Then I asked how rehearsals are going, basically I told them I want all the gossip but sadly they said there wasn't really any! They did say that some days had been difficult because of the snow and some of them had struggled to get it but they are all really committed and made it every day.

There have been some guests in rehearsal this week: Matt Hargrave who is writing all about Boo, Ben Pugh our Tech Person, Ed Heaton who is sorting the music and Nomie Parker who is the costume designer. All helping to get the show together.

In and amongst all this Rob also found time to do a live phone interview with BCB Radio he was talking about the show Boo and what it is like being an actor. His mum and dad also got to listen online back home.
