Boo rehearsal blog - week 5
Wednesday 18th February 2009
Blog Category: Boo Blog
This week all the cast are off script and have had a couple of full run throughs in costume. Jonny said he is really pleased with his costume and it is really helping him feel like Boo. JoAnne and Rob say their costumes make them both feel like chavs!
Rob has also had to have a haircut to really get into character and everyone keeps saying he doesn't look like him. We were hoping we could have a 'shaving ceremony' here at MTG but Rio decided she thought it was better if he went to a real barber - spoil sport! Rob said, 'I do feel like i have changed, but that's good as an actor.'
Tim told me how hard they have all been working and that it is like climbing a mountain, they've all come a long way but the last push is always the hardest.
JoAnne had a bit of an accident this week, she fell backwards into the sofa and bumped her head but she is okay now. She said she was worried that when she bumped it all the lines might fall out but they seem to have stuck.
There was also filming this week and your loyal blogger (me!) was part of this as well, but only for a few seconds so when you come along keep your eyes peeled for me. The rest of Acting Company and even Mind the Gap staff were part of the filming so you might spot them too. Alan said that doing the filming this week was exciting as it reminded him how close it is getting to the first shows, he said he doesn't really get nervous he gets giddy and excited!
I asked the gang if they had any more thoughts on the subtext of the play, now that they are so far on in rehearsals? They all feel that it is about prejudice and judgement and that it setting it in modern day gives it a dark twist. Jonny said that 'Boo doesn't always help himself and that sometimes makes it darker. Mike Kenny has been in on some of the rehearsals and Rob said he hopes Mike likes it.
They have all been interviewed by Maggie Graham for a piece in Viewpoint Magazine as well which will come out next month. Another busy week!
