Boo rehearsal blog - week 6
Friday 27th February 2009
Blog Category: Boo Blog
This is the last full week of rehearsals and its been a busy one, at the beginning of the week Tony Evans was in to be filmed doing the BSL interpretation which will be projected on the screens in the background to the scenes. Then on Tuesday all of us in the Acting Company and Making Theatre got to watch a full run through, it was really good and such a big difference from the bits i have seen early on. I was impressed at how well it has come along and how in character everyone was.
They have had some fun as well as working hard this week and told me about the other run throughs they have done. They did a speed run, where they all had to say their lines as fast as possible to really help them remember them and then a melodramatic run where they all had to be really dramatic and over the top! Everyone said that they enjoyed the 'fun run' best in which they do a run in different film and theatre styles like opera, western, Carry On and cartoons, and Rob's Sylvester the Cat impression has become legendary. Rob said, it helped to get the laughs out and properly understand the characters.
Next week is the first shows for an audience here at MTG and JoAnne has friends and family coming to watch her every night. It will be JoAnne's first tour and i asked her how she felt about so many people she knows coming to see her. She said she is excited and she knows they will be proud of her but is nervous at the same time as a lot of them have never seen her act before.
Anna Rymer and Mat Angrove have been in all this week getting to know the cast and the show as they are the ones who will be on tour with the guys, Alan does know Anna already but said that it was good to spend time with them and get to know them before going on tour.
This week there have also been rehearsals for the post show discussions and workshops that will be happening. JoAnne is involved in them all and Rob and Alan will take turns, because Jonny is playing Boo he has enough to learn to will not be doing the workshops. Alan has loads of workshop experience from all the stuff he has done with the Acting Company and i know Rob has done workshops with other gigs he has had, so i'm sure they'll have no problems.
Finally, i asked them what they would say to anyone who hasn't booked a ticket to come and see it yet, JoAnne said, 'It will be really good!' and Jonny, 'Definitely worth seeing'... so if you haven't got your ticket yet, book it now!
