The first show went exceptionally well with the audience really loving it. The performers were elated with the audiences response. “We blew ‘em away in HK!” said Jez. Now we have to do it all again!

Today we leant an important difference between English curtain calls and Chinese curtain calls. When Tim was organising the call after the dress rehearsal he asked the actors to bow three times. Everyone erupted saying “no, no, bad luck, bad luck! Bowing three times means death. We only bow three times at a funeral” Tim was a bit concerned that he had insulted the actors. Everyone laughed at our lack on knowledge about Chinese customs. We agreed to bow once. Tim did not dare say ‘break a leg’ to the actors before they went on in case this might be bad luck as well!

Interestingly Deaf audiences wave their hands in the air as they do in UK. We also share many other signs.

Jez; I ate a goose’s foot after the show last night! You have to try everything at least once!

Tim: I am very impressed with Jez’s bravery!
