Blog Category: Acting Company Blog
This is all the Acting Company today, we’re a group of bloggers! As Mind the Gap are doing Dance Theatre on Fridays and for Half Term, we thought we’d tell you about the dance we do.
We do lots of dance, especially Alan, he does three dance sessions at Mind the Gap and then outside he does two at Yorkshire Dance – Mind the Step and Musical Theatre. He is getting to be an expert in all types of dance!
Dance is definitely making us all fitter and it helps us as actors. We learn about how to work with music and how our bodies move which helps us be better actors.
Anna thinks that since she started dance this year that it’s been a big change for her and it has made her a lot more active.
We do Contact Improvisation with Rachel, it’s different to Mia and Karen’s dance classes as we use the floor more and work in pairs all the time. Jonny thinks Street Dance is the best because it’s never boring and you feel cool doing it.
Rio has noticed that people are sitting out of all of the dance classes a lot less – so we must be getting fitter!
We have a script for part of Stig of the Dump now, which has three characters in it. We have decided that we want to make a small performance and workshop using ideas from the story. The themes in the book are stuff like: imagination, loneliness and recycling. Now we are learning a bit of the script as the start of the workshop.
