Shadow People - The Final Blog
Tuesday 3rd November 2009
Blog Category: Shadow People Blog
It happened!
After all the hardwork and planning it all went according to plan. All the participants performed really well, and if they were nervous they didn’t show it.
The event started off in the courtyard where friends and family of the participants were led out to. There were also the people who live in the mill. Most of them came out of their apartments entrance but there were also loads of people on their balcony and looking out of their windows watching.
It all started off when Jez rang the siren and us as the shadows went to either side of the courtyard as if to hide from the noise. We played Grandmother’s Footsteps with all the audience members three times. We didn’t give them any instructions we just went straight into it so they had to work it out for themselves.
Then we led the audience back inside where there was much devouring of hot dogs and hot chocolate. Inside we also had the ‘Gap house band’ – that’s Lisa, Jez, Alsion and Joyce. They sang three songs which people seemed to enjoy.
Me and Alan were in Studio 2 capturing people’s shadows. This meant that I was taking their picture whilst they were behind a white screen with a light behind them casting their shadow onto the screen. They could do any pose they wanted. The shadows are on the Mind the Gap Facebook group, like I told people on the night, if you don’t reclaim them by the end of the week they are ours to keep!
I spoke to lots of people, both friends and family and people from the apartments upstairs… I’m not sure which was which but they all enjoyed it!
