This morning I led the warm-up. I did the pass the squeeze game to get everyone's concentration up and running first thing. It was good fun running an exercise and the participants seemed to enjoy it. Shabina asked me to run it, which made me feel really useful.
Today Melanie Harris came in to help us with the sound recordings, she has done directing work for radio. She came in with the Little Red Riding Hood book and we went through it and picked out the bits that you don't hear whilst reading the book and made those into sound effects. So like the movement of the wolf and breathing. Starting from the beginning and adding sound effects where we thought they were needed all the way through.
We recorded the sound effects on a Edirol, which Melanie said she uses all the time for radio. Basically it's a glorified dictaphone.
This afternoon we recorded the sounds. I was in a group and we recorded rabbit noises that the participants made themselves, and the sound of feet going over leaves. We made the sound of leaves by getting paper and empty packets and then all walked over them.
The other groups recorded other sound effects. One group actually went into the kitchen and poured tea and did the washing up for kitchen sound effects. Last thing we listened to what the other groups had made.
