Anna Gray - What it's like to be a Making Theatre student
Hear all about an average day on the Making Theatre course from current student Anna Gray...
My name is Anna Gray I have been at Mind the Gap for 2 years now and I really like it, it’s got a great atmosphere. Before Mind the Gap I did performing arts at high school, we did dance and singing and drama.
I live in between Harrogate and Leeds and it takes me an hour to get in I usually get a Taxi or a lift in with Julia who works at Mind the Gap. The first thing I do when I get in is take the register, Charli gave me this job in the second year but sometimes I have to get one of my friends to do it if I have an appointment or if I will be late in. After that I go to put my things in the locker I have Locker 19 but I have a lot of things so often it spills over into another locker but I let my friends us my other locker aswell.
When I get in if it’s a Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday we have dance. Dance is my favorite because you can show other people what you can do. We have 3 different teachers, Mia teaches Contemporary, Rachel does Improvisation and Karen does Street Dance, which I love.
On a Tuesday afternoon we do media with Mike, which I think I’m quite good at, in media we learn to use cameras and do work on iMovie. We also do lots of acting and script work thinking about characters and what they would be like so that we can play them well.
I love doing Performances, sometimes the staff from the office come down and they watch what we’ve been doing in class I like people watching me perform it gives me more confidence.
I love being on Making Theatre because it lets me prove what I can do.
