Theatre of the Oppressed Northern Network Day
You are invited to a network meeting for practitioners and theorists based in the northern region (North West, Northern and Yorkshire Arts regions) interested in the development of TO within applied theatre practice.
Date: Friday 4th December 2009
Time: 11am to 2pm
Cost: FREE including lunch
Sadly, in May this year Augusto Boal, the inspiration behind Theatre of the Oppressed, died. An international meeting was held in Rio de Janerio in July and it was decided that we would set up regional opportunities to look at ways to support practitioners in the future and to help develop critical thinking. This is the first of what we hope, will become a regular opportunity to meet up and move things on.
Already confirmed attendance: Frances Babbage (University of Sheffield), Matt Hargrave (Northumbria University) Geraldine Ling (Lawnmowers, Newcastle), Chrissie Poulter (Trinity College, Leeds), James Thompson (University of Manchester) and Tim Wheeler (Mind the Gap, Bradford).
Please note, places at the network day are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, please RSVP as soon as possible to reserve yours. If you have any access or dietary requirements please advise us of these when booking. A map and directions to Mind the Gap Studios can be downloaded here.
