This website has been designed so that as many people as possible
can access and enjoy the information on it, and so that no one
is excluded.
We looked at a number of accessibility problems that users of
the site may experience and we have added the following options
to the site:
-
We have provided the information
in audio, text and animated formats to be an engaging and enjoyable
experience.
-
People who are hearing impaired can access elements
of the site using captions and visual animations to enjoy
elements that are not text based.
-
Anyone with visual impairments
can access sound on certain elements of the site. The whole
site has also been designed to
be friendly to screen reading software and allows keyboard access
throughout.
-
The site has been designed to allow mobility impaired
users to navigate using the keyboard only through logical tab
orders.
-
The issue of colour blindness and dyslexia played a big
part in deciding the choice of colours to use on the site, ensuring
a good contrast throughout. In addition to this, all text is
scalable to allow the user to find a size that suits their needs.
-
For
people with learning disabilities we have made the
information available in a very visual format. This includes
the use of pictures and picture stories where possible, as well
as ensuring that all the site content is written in a clear and
concise way.
Certain features on this site need to be viewed in a Flash animation
format. If the computer you are using does not have Flash installed
you will not be able to fully view the feature.
As a result of this we have ensured that all information contained
within the animation is available in other formats to allow everyone
to access it.
If you would like to install Flash onto your computer you can
do so by visiting www.macromedia.com.
