The show is almost completed! - 14th May 2012
It has been a while since the last time I wrote to you. I’ve been so busy with the development of show that I haven’t had the time to sit down and update you. I’m not going to let this happen again… I promise!
The show is almost completed. It’s an outdoor musical show set in the rural beauty of Cow & Calf quarry, taking place form 21st – 23rd June 2012.
Irresistible is a semi promenade show which means that you as the audience move with the actors, whilst telling you the story of my travelling. In my journey, I encounter the Sirens, beautiful and dangerous women who, try to lure me away but, luckily the Crew is there to help me through it. The Sirens are three sign interpreter singers and the Crew a few members of the Making Theatre training course. Together we’ll entertain you with special effects and an incredible variety of rock and blues songs. Some of which are played with very unusual instruments including my trademark: alarm sirens.
Yes, I know, the idea of alarm sirens probably sounds loud and annoying to you but, trust me, there is a lot of beauty in their sound, in the hypnotic modulation of their voices. Have you ever tried to turn a disharmony into a symphony? This is your chance to be captured into catchy bluesy songs and unseal the symphony of sirens.
In this show there is something for everyone, from toddlers who love loud sounds, to fans of unusual music, to those passionate rock or blues, to outdoor lovers who enjoy intriguing places. What ever you are in to, you simply cannot resist to it!

“We’ve got a long way to go but I’m quite chuffed with what’s been achieved this week” - 16th Dec 2011
This week I’ve been at Mind the Gap, and with the help of Si and Mike, I had to create two new songs. One about my life when I was younger hating the sirens, the other is like a hoedown to get the crew and the audience going.
On Monday me and Si were doing the music, then on Tuesday Si and Mike came in and we were talking about the lyrics and the tune and jotted some down. Yesterday me and Mike worked together juts writing lyrics and trying to get the songs ready, and today was the recording of them.
I like the songs but they need to be kind of worked on – not the tunes, but the lyrics really. At the moment it’s talking about war and things and maybe people don’t want to hear about that kind of thing.
The first thing me and Si did today was sketch out and record the two songs, and then I worked with Billy this afternoon – trying to do percussive elements for the symphony of sirens.
I was directing Acting Company and it was a bit of a challenge getting people to listen, but as people got confident with it, it got better. Alison was talking about how a conductor leads an orchestra, so I have to gain the skills of conductor and director as well.
I think this was useful, I like watching conductors and how they use their faces and their body and their hands – they can be very romantic in their movements. That’s going to be quite a challenge but I’m going to take it head on and start controlling my orchestra – we’ve got a long way to go but I’m quite chuffed with what’s been achieved this week.
