I’m with Stupid MashUp 360 goes live
Monday 5th July 2010
Over 50 young people with learning disabilities (13 – 25) have taken part in a project we have been running called I’m with Stupid. The aim of the project was to challenge the negative images of young disabled people as shown in the media. Ideas Forum Chair Alison Short said:
“I’m with Stupid is all about how the media show young people with learning disabilities. They are shown as helpless and defensive. This is a stereotype that needs to end!”.
The participants had lots of hands-on access to different media so that they could have their say. Then a team of media professionals were brought in to work alongside the young participants, sharing their skills in film-making, photography and audio (sound).
The young people have created a “MashUp” made up of video, photographs and audio items where you can see all the pieces that were made. The I’m with Stupid Mashup 360 is part of the I’m with Stupid blog where you can see what the young people involved thought of the project:

We really want to know what you think of the stuff that has been created, so please use the blog to post ideas, replies and comments!
