Mind the Gap selected to be part of Arts Council, England National portfolio of funded organisations
Wednesday 30th March 2011
Mind the Gap is thrilled to be able to confirm it has received official notification that the company has been selected to be part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of Organisations. This means that the theatre company will continue to receive funding from the Arts Council from 1st April 2012 and for the subsequent 3 years.
As a Regularly Funded Organisation Mind the Gap will receive £144,342 for the financial year 2011/12. As part of the National Portfolio we will get £205,000 in 2012/13, £209,920 in 2013/14 and £215,378 in 2014/15.
The Arts Council England assessment of the application said, “the organisation demonstrates a clear and compelling case for achieving ‘Great art for everyone’ on many levels.”
While Mind the Gap is very pleased with this decision, we know that many of our colleagues have received news about cuts this morning that will impact significantly on the future of their organisations. Mind the Gap sends its best wishes and assurance of our continued commitment to working with everyone in the arts community to benefit cultural provision in England as a whole.
Artistic Director Tim Wheeler said of the decision: “We are extremely grateful for this Arts Council support, which will enable us to continue to create high quality theatre with learning disabled artists at the centre of the creative process. We offer our thanks to Arts Council, England and the associated regional offices for their support and recognition of the important work Mind the Gap does.”
