A gift arrives. What’s inside? Curious? Discover what it means to be gifted: follow talented composer Jez Colborne to the very heart of music making as he uses a shipping container as a musical instrument and performance arena.

The Commissioning Body
Originally Commissioned by PRS for Music Foundation’s New Music Biennial, the show premiered in Bradford City Park as part of Bradford Festival in June 2014 before touring to the Southbank Centre, London and was an official culture 2014 event for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme.

    I found the whole experience intensely moving – which I hadn’t anticipated. Firstly, the apprehension walking into the container, then the whole sense of ‘feeling’ rather than simply hearing sounds, then the switch as the lighting changed and for me, the voices of the many voiceless who have travelled or had to live in such conditions became manifest. Congratulations Jez for such an achievement and well done to all at Mind the Gap!
