Treasure Island (2013)

The nation's classic - Treasure Island retold by Mike Kenny…with a twist!

A tale of Jim Hawkins, Long John Silver, pirates, parrots and treasure. Come with us on an adventure to find the X on the map and fight for a share of the buried gold. But be sure not to get the dreaded Black Spot on the way!

There be mutiny! As modern-day and fantasy worlds collide, Flint’s Supermarket becomes the scene for adventure as we tell this tale of Treasure, tills and trolleys; turning the aisles into adventure, carrots into parrots, and cut-loaves into cutlasses!

This coming of age story is truly for all ages, pirates and good-guys alike. Whether you’re a young Cabin Lass or an experienced First Mate, who can resist an adventure on the Seven Seas?

Fun for all the family: “You don’t watch a MtG performance you experience it! Audience participation right from the start. The programme, sword, telescope, treasure map, hat explained it all. Great night and lots of fun everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Live on the Radio!

Hear Assistant Theatre Director Joyce Lee and actors Liam Bairstow who plays George and Alan Clay who plays Long John Silver on local BCB Radio promoting the show:

I really liked the performance it made me excited, in shock and surprised when the spotlight was on me. My all time favourites actors were Alan, Gemma, Joanne and of course Liam! I was emotional at the end. Can’t believe that Treasure Island is coming to leeds! It will be a mystery to watch it and a spell bounding, magical performance! Watch out, there are some Pirates lurking around Leeds and some very funny, catchy songs that will stay in your heads!

I liked the double/triple+ roles the characters played and the script. Also I liked the supermarket setting/location.

  • Jon Lewis

I liked the bit when Liam talked about cheese. The characters were great, because they changed so well and were portrayed very well. Gemma was great at changing into being strict and funny at the same time, and Alan was great when he changed into Long John.
