Tea and Trailers

About

First launched in 2017 alongside our national tour of Contained, Tea & Trailers is Mind the Gap’s platform opportunity for work by people with learning disabilities and autism.

Tea & Trailers puts the work of local learning disabled artists, performers and companies centre stage. It’s an opportunity to try out work in front of an audience, show off your skills, pitch an idea, talent spot and meet other learning disabled performers in a welcoming and safe environment – anything goes and all ideas are welcome!

Following the success of the first event at the the Albany Theatre in Deptford, Tea & Trailers has taken place in various cities around the country either alongside one of Mind the Gap’s touring productions or as a standalone event.

Usually hosted at a theatre venue or at the home of another company, Mind the Gap can assist with finding local learning disabled groups and people to take part and facilitate the session. As well as a platform opportunity the event is always accompanied with tea, coffee and cake!
