30 November 2017
Mind the Gap Academy has grown so much in the past three years that this year, for the first time, we decided to hold two events celebrating the students’ achievements.
The Part Time Graduation took place on Monday 27 November. As always, it was a wonderful opportunity to look back at the work of students on the Dance, Acting and Music programmes in 2016/17. The 70 strong audience of friends, family and support networks were treated to poetry readings, films, fun stories and a presentation of Arts Award and Mind the Gap Performing Arts Award certificates.
On Tuesday 28 November, the red carpet was laid, the fizz flowed and the band played to welcome Performance Academy Students, Artists and invited guests to the first Academy Achievements event. Attendees had the opportunity to share their favourite moments from the past year and enjoy performances by the Inclusive Choir, Inclusive Dance Company and Jez Colborne and the Mind the Gap Band. They also watched an exclusive screening of Artist Paul Bates’ show reel from a workshop he took part in with ITV’s Emmerdale earlier this year.
It’s incredible to see how much Mind the Gap’s Academy has grown over the past few years and appreciate the wealth of talent we have in our building every week. If you want to find out more about Mind the Gap’s Academy, come along to the Open Day on Wednesday 13 December, 6pm – 8pm. Also, keep an eye out for a special Academy event that will be happening in summer next year.
