Covid-19 Update - Mind the Gap

Covid-19 Update

Friday 3 April 2020

It’s been over two weeks since Mind the Gap Studios closed its doors but the team are working hard to ensure a level of normality in these strange times; we are committed to continue with our artistic output for both our students and Artists.

The staff team were well prepared to work from home in advance of the Government’s announcement to do so, meaning the closure of our office has simply seen a shift in how we operate. We are all embracing online working and the fabulous range of virtual meeting software that’s available.

It’s hard to believe that this time last year, preparations were underway for Mind the Gap’s biggest performance to date – ZARA – our co-production with Walk the Plank in partnership with Emergency Exit Arts. Now, one year on, we’re getting ready to share our giant baby with the world!

To coincide with the anniversary of the premiere performance, a recorded version of the London show will be streamed via our YouTube channel on Sunday 19 April at 8pm.

Sadly, the performances of a little space  – our co-production with Gecko Theatre, which were due to take place at The Place, London, and Crossing the Line Festival, Galway, have been postponed. But we are currently in conversation with both venues to try and reschedule these performances for future dates. We’ll be keeping you posted.

Mind the Gap’s Academy team have been working hard over the past couple of weeks to ensure that our training programmes can continue online. We’ve had daily Zoom calls with students and Artists and set fun activities to do at home including online dance classes, script work and music tasks. Check out Performance Academy’s online dance class here…

The Academy programmes will pause for the for the Easter holidays as planned and will continue from 27 April. We are currently recruiting for new students to start with us in September this year. The deadline for applications is Thursday 30 April. You can find more info here…

Big love to all the amazing venues and theatre companies around the world and everyone that keeps this wonderful industry ticking, even in these uncertain times. This is just an interval…

Stay safe and healthy everyone!
