Our Goals

Founded in 1988 by Tim Wheeler and Susan Brown, Mind the Gap exists to enable people with learning disabilities and autism to be part of an arts sector free from discrimination, where people are trained, respected and employed equally, and feature every day on our stages and screens.

The company works with learning disabled and autistic artists to deliver a bold, cutting edge and world class artistic programme. A programme that excites, surprises and challenges audiences locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Values

  • To foster an ethos that celebrates and champions diversity and a culture that respects everyone’s ideas, views, opinions and talents
  • To create an environment where people with learning disabilities and autism can be artists, leaders, decision makers and independent thinkers
  • To create work that is artistically fresh, pioneering, authentic and accessible
  • To demonstrate excellence in everything we do: our artistic outputs and our working practices
  • To have high expectations of ourselves and others, continuously raising the quality bar
  • To actively involve partners and collaborators to explore new ideas
