Academy Information

About the Academy

All training is person-centred and offers various ways to learn with individual’s needs considered through regular assessment – we don’t lecture, we create and learn together. Mind the Gap’s core group of learning disabled and autistic Artists also work with and alongside the Academy, the students, and trainers.

Courses are delivered at the state of the art, fully accessible Mind the Gap Studios in Bradford, which are kitted out with everything a performer could possibly need. Students, artists, teachers, and collaborators share the same space to encourage personal development and sharing of ideas.

The Academy brings in a range of external collaborators including arts industry leaders, theatre makers, voice coaches and dance teachers to ensure all students gain a wide range of arts training and a broad understanding of the creative world. It encourages personal and professional development in an environment that is constantly learning and developing.

From beginner and participatory one day per week courses to the three-year Performing Arts training programme, there’s something for all levels. You can also find out if the Academy is right for you through Taster Sessions and our Open Days.
