In Memory of Jonathan Lewis (1980 – 2019)

Mind the Gap is very sad to share the news that long-standing company artist Jonathan Lewis has died.

Jonathan was involved with the company over many years. He developed his basic skills through the Making Theatre training course, and was quickly recruited into our main acting ensemble in 2004. Jonathan made his national touring debut performance in Mind the Gap’s Cyrano, Mike Kenny’s adaptation created for the company based on Rostand’s novel. He went on to do further training on the company’s Staging Change advanced course in 2007, working with four national drama schools including Arts Educational Schools and Guildford School of Acting.

It wasn’t just Mind the Gap that recognised Jonathan’s talents. He was cast in two BBC Radio 4 plays, Callum (2005) and Coming Down the Mountain (2003) which received a Sony Award.

Jonathan played an active role in Mind the Gap’s life not just as a performer, but also as an ambassador going out and about talking about the company, its opportunities and achievements.

Everyone who knew Jonathan was impressed by his warmth, gentle humour and wit. He will be greatly missed by everyone in the team. Our condolences and thoughts are with his Mum Maureen, his family and his many friends at this sad time.
