Join Mind the Gap as an Academy Volunteer!
Are you passionate about making a difference while having fun? Then, we’d love for you to join our team as an Academy Volunteer!
Mind the Gap has been running performance-based training courses for people with learning disabilities and autism for over 20 years. The Academy courses are now considered amongst the most established and internationally recognised training programmes of their kind.
As an Academy Volunteer, you’ll be right there in the action, encouraging our students, participating in sessions, and being a friendly, approachable face. You’ll help students stay focused, and most importantly, you’ll join in on the fun! While some light administrative tasks might pop up, your role will not be that of a support worker—students who need personal support bring their own.
Why Volunteer With Us?
This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to:
- Gain hands-on experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Build valuable skills in the performing arts training sector.
- Help others succeed and grow.
We offer a thorough induction, mid-placement check-ins, travel expenses, and invitations to our events. Plus, our sessions are filled with energy, creativity, and fun! Find out more about the role here.
What We’re Looking For:
- Enthusiasm! We need positive, reliable, and self-sufficient volunteers.
- Minimum of Level 3 education in a relevant subject (Performing Arts, Social Care).
- Independence in managing your time and communication.
- At least 18 years old, and comfortable travelling independently.
If you’re ready to join us, please complete our application form, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out at arts@mind-the-gap.org.uk or 01274 487 390.
