Saturday Morning Youth Dance Sessions

Thanks to funding from Yorkshire Dance, Leeds based inclusive contemporary dance company MeshDance has partnered with Mind the Gap to deliver a series of Saturday morning dance sessions.

A group of people stand in a circle, facing each other, slightly crouched with their arms outstretched towards the centre of the circle.

Open to young people aged 14 -25 with a learning disability and/or autism, there will be 11 weekly sessions that will teach you new dance skills and build confidence. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to make new friends!

You will work with artists from MeshDance and Mind the Gap to create a dance performance that you will share with friends and family. The performance will also be turned into a film that will be entered to be shown at FRESH 2022 – Yorkshire Dance’s annual Youth Dance platform!

Weekly sessions will take place at Mind the Gap from Saturday 8 January until Saturday 26 March with a week off on Saturday 26 February for half term. Classes will run from 10am -11:30am.

You do not need previous dance experience to participate as long as you love to dance! Sessions cost £5 per week, but if you pay in advance for the full term, we will reduce the cost to £50. We don’t want money to be a barrier to attending so please get in touch if we can help make this more affordable.

If you would like more information or to book a place, please email Karen Bartholomew: karen@mind-the-gap.org.uk or call 01274 487390. Places are limited and will be booked on a first come first served basis.
