Paige

Since 2016 Mind the Gap has been gathering real life stories from parents with learning disabilities across the UK for the Daughters of Fortune project.

The parents involved want to share their experiences and open up conversations to challenge the stigma surrounding learning disability and parenthood.

Paige is a beautiful photobook, which documents these stories with images taken by photographer Emilie Flower alongside quotes compiled by participants and writer Mary Cooper.

Meet some of the learning disabled parents who kindly contributed their stories to the research that influenced the Daughters of Fortune project. Their stories also feature in the Paige photobook.

This film was originally commissioned by, and featured in, The Great Exhibition of the North, 2018.

Paige Photobook

Mind the Gap worked with Research Partner Dr Kate Theodore from Royal Holloway, University of London, for the Daughters of Fortune project. The University now hosts a number of resources from the project on its website including a downloadable copy of the Paige photobook, training films and the Research Report.
