Arts Academy offers four types of beginner-level courses designed for learning disabled and/or autistic people who wish to explore their creativity and build confidence through theatre, music and dance.

Theatre Academy Showcase
Mondays
Theatre Academy

Theatre Academy is designed for students interested in learning and developing theatre and acting skills. Throughout the course, students explore improvisation, story-telling, script work, and character development. They also learn to evaluate their own performances and have regular opportunities to perform in front of an audience.

Thursdays
Dance Academy

Dance Academy gives everyone the chance to learn contemporary dance and create their own choreography. Students develop their dance skills, explore choreographic techniques, research professional dance artists and companies, and perform their work in front of an audience.

music Academy

Music Academy welcomes students eager to develop their musical skills. Throughout the course, students explore different musical instruments, deepen their understanding of rhythm, create original melodies, and experiment with musical improvisation. They also have regular opportunities to perform pieces they’ve learned or composed in front of an audience.

Academy at calderdale

Academy at Calderdale covers all aspects of performing arts, with each term focusing on a different art form—theatre, dance, and music. It’s perfect for anyone new to performing arts who wants to explore and see what it’s all about in a welcoming and supportive environment. Sessions are at Elland Community Hub.

Other Courses

Performance Academy

Performance Academy is a three-year performing arts course that enables students to develop their craft in theatre, dance, and music. Students will work towards achieving a level 4 qualification accredited by York St John University.

Partner Courses

Partner Courses, delivered in collaboration with Totally Inclusive People, are entry-level and welcome new students all year round, with no auditions required.
