Arts Academy offers four types of beginner-level courses designed for learning disabled and/or autistic people who wish to explore their creativity and build confidence through theatre, music and dance.

Theatre Academy Showcase
We are excited to share that we are now recruiting for Arts Academy
Mondays
Theatre Academy

Develop and improve your acting skills with Theatre Academy. Throughout this course, students will get the chance to explore theatre techniques such as improvisation, story-telling, script work, physical theatre, and character development.

Thursdays
Dance Academy

Evolve and enhance your movement skills with Dance Academy. During this course, students have the opportunity to develop a wide range of contemporary dance techniques, and create their own choreography. Students will work as part of an ensemble, and develop solos and duets.

music Academy

Expand and progress your singing and sound skills with Music Academy. In this course, students have the chance to deepen their understanding of rhythm using percussion instruments, compose original melodies on keyboards, learn song-writing, and experiment with musical improvisation.

CALDERDALE ACADEMY

Calderdale Academy is ideal for those who have a passion for performing arts, and for complete beginners ready for a new challenge. Throughout the year, you will have the chance to explore the three key art forms in performing arts; Theatre, Dance, and Music. With different, highly skilled tutors leading each term, Calderdale Academy keeps things exciting, welcoming, and supportive. You can join us at any time, and there is no audition process.

Sessions are at Elland Community Hub, HX5 9DL.

Other Courses

Performance Academy

Performance Academy is a three-year performing arts course that enables students to develop their craft in theatre, dance, and music. Students will work towards achieving a level 4 qualification accredited by York St John University.

Partner Courses

Partner Courses, delivered in collaboration with Totally Inclusive People, are entry-level and welcome new students all year round, with no auditions required.
