Three exciting, creative sessions for people with a learning disability and/or autism aged 18+.
This summer Mind The Gap is running 3 sets of workshops for people with a learning disability and/or autism aged 18+.
Whether it’s co-writing a political protest song, creating a giant artwork, or expressing yourself through poetry there is something to be part of this August at Mind The Gap.
Each of the workshops will run for 3 days, between 10.30am and 2.30pm. You need absolutely no experience to take part, if you have something to say then we want to hear from you!
Summer Sessions are part of Mind the Gap’s Community Programme. We are working with local learning disabled and autistic people to have fun, express ourselves and tell our stories. We think building community and making art together is a powerful tool to make our voices heard.
Art that’s made during the summer sessions will be shared at an exciting event at MTG Studios in the autumn. Keep an eye on our socials for more info.

Songs of Resistance

Join award-winning folk musician Maddie Morris to co-write a new version of the political folk classic “We shall not be moved”. Maddie will guide you through songwriting and visual art tasks, exploring our core beliefs and sharing what we want to say about the world.
All the Feelings
11th – 13th August
Inspired by sensory experiences you love, work with YAYA (aka The Street Autist) to create a giant sensory sculpture that includes things that make us feel calm, happy and safe.
Get it in Writing
18th – 20th August
Have you ever had thoughts and feelings that you just can’t get out of your head? Join Hope Shooter to work out how to get it in writing and express yourself through poetry. Work through various writing exercises and games to help you figure out your own writing style!
