There are times when an arts organisation outgrows its skin. The work changes, the ambitions stretch in different directions, and suddenly the way you present yourself to the world feels too small for what you’ve become. That’s where Mind the Gap found itself, and that’s why we’ve created a brand new website. Welcome.
In recent years, we’ve been making theatre that refuses to sit quietly in the corner: urgent, imaginative work by learning disabled and/or autistic artists that speaks directly to audiences across the UK and beyond. We’ve expanded our training programmes, deepened our community projects, and watched our artists achieve things our old website simply couldn’t capture.
The perfect moment to act arrived with the world premiere of The Invite, our latest show commissioned by Bradford 2025, co-created by Mind the Gap artists and Rich Rusk. Immersive, generous, and brimming with surprises, The Invite is the start of a new chapter for us, and it felt only right to launch it into the world with a look that shares its ambition.
Our new website is designed to be more accessible, more intuitive, and crystal clear about the three areas that define our work:
Theatre – Where our creative ambition takes flight, producing touring work rooted in the lived experiences of our artists and sparking conversations that linger long after the curtain falls.
Academy – Now with three strands: the Performance Academy, in collaboration with York St John University which prepares students for working in the arts industry, the Arts Academy (formerly One Day Courses) offers intermediate level training and skills development in theatre, dance, and music, and Partner Courses with Totally Arts, offering collaborative opportunities all year around for people to explore creativity at their own pace.
Community – The projects that keep us grounded. Whether it’s a small gathering swapping stories or a large-scale celebration filling public spaces, community work is where our connections deepen.
A rebrand is never the whole story. It’s our way of saying to the world: This is who we are today, and this is where we’re heading. For us, it’s about being open, clear, and proud of the belief that great art can come from anywhere, and be for everyone. We hope you enjoy our fresh new look. Take a wander through the site, discover what we’ve been up to, and, if you like, come along for the ride.
