Performance Academy is our most advanced training course, offering a focused and professional environment to develop specialist performance skills.
Running over three years, this full-time course leads to a Certificate of Education in Performing Arts Level 4, accredited by York St John University.
About the course
About the course: Mind the Gap’s Performance Academy was designed and influenced by learning disabled and autistic creatives, for students to learn theatre, dance, music, and industry studies.
- Through detailed one-on-one assessments, we provide personalised support to enable students to develop skills in an accessible learning environment.
- Beyond traditional artistic skills, we focus on building confidence, communication and teamwork.
- Our studios in Bradford have fantastic facilities, have access embedded in its design, and are safe, so our students feel empowered to do their best work.
- Students work with experienced, multidisciplinary artists and get the opportunity to connect with professional companies.
- Each year, students take part in an annual showcase to share their talents with a live audience.

- Starting September 2024 and ending July 2027
- 35 weeks per year
- Core hours: Monday to Thursday, 10 am to 3pm
Admission requirements
- Over the age of 18 years old
- Have a learning disability and/or autism
- A keen interest in the Performing Arts, and a commitment to developing skills.
Costs
- The Performance Academy course costs approximately £60 per day. The fee is dependent on which local authority you live in. This is typically funded through Adult Social Care Personal Budgets.

The Arts Academy offers four different courses in theatre, dance, and music. With tailored support and a welcoming environment, students have the opportunity to build their creative skills and step into their self-expression.

Partner Courses, delivered in collaboration with Totally Inclusive People, are entry-level and welcome new students all year round, with no auditions required.
