Magna Carta on Trial
Celebration Event
On 15 June 2015, 165 people attended our celebration event in Bradford Council Chambers with performances by 4 different groups of young people from Mind the Gap, Freedom Studios, Carlton Bolling College and Grange Technology College. They held a protest on the steps of Bradford City Hall, gave public readings of the Magna Carta, and performed pieces that celebrated this key part of British history to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta.
Here’s what members of the audience had to say:
“Bradford’s kids have all got talent! The writers cleverly interspersed modern inequalities with the more mythical and cartoon aspects of King John. Well done!”
“How good it is to see people of all ages working together to commemorate an historic event.”
“Great to see kids teach us history through the arts.”
